The Urban Oyster: Building an Open-minded Approach to Oysters

Since 2016, Baltimore-based chef Jasmine Norton (The Urban Oyster/The Urban Burger) has turned her love of seafood into a culinary movement focused on making a regional staple food accessible to new audiences. Drawing on the observation that her family and friends were open to cooked seafood, Norton's menu features chargrilled and fried oysters presented in creative combinations. Join Norton as she shares her innovative culinary perspective on building new audiences for an essential Chesapeake food tradition. 

The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum’s Speaker Series brings discussion about Chesapeake-related topics to the Van Lennep Auditorium. Events vary, but often include talks by industry experts, discussions with community members, performances by local artists, and screenings of relevant films. Regardless of the topic, each program will leave you with a greater appreciation for the people and environment of the Chesapeake Bay.
