Full Moon Paddle

Join CBMM ACA certified staff for two evening paddles to enjoy the evening sunset and the full moon.   Native American Tribes gave moons names as a way of tracking the seasons.

August provides us with two full moons which are both also full super moons.  August’s first full moon is called the Full Sturgeon Moon and its second full moon is called the Full Blue Moon.  A Blue Moon is when there are two full moons in a month.  August’s moons are also referred to as Barley Moon, Corn Moon, Dog Moon, Fruit Moon Grain Moon, Green Corn Moon, Herb Moon, Red Moon, and Wyrt Moon.

For Wednesday, August 30, participants will launch from CBMM’s campus to paddle along the Miles River and into Long Haul Creek.  This paddle provides a wonderful opportunity to view the sunset and moon rise from the stillness of the water. Paddles are good for both the beginner and the intermediate paddler.
