Christian Benefiel, sculpture artist and Shepherd University Professor, will guide participants through the intricacies of casting bronze and aluminum, creating wood, foam or wax molds, working the sand, the furnace, and pouring molten metal. The public will learn the lost wax or investment casting techniques and the more traditional green sand techniques. Class will be held Wednesday, April 10 through Friday, April 12 and with the molds being poured on Sunday, April 14. Participants will take home a working knowledge of casting metal from start to finish and their own creation. Materials are included in the registration fee.
