CBMM offers a number of hands-on programs in the Shipyard throughout the year through its Apprentice for a Day Program. These include demonstrations, workshops, intensives with visiting master craftsmen, on-the-water experiences, and customizable programming.
Explore the magic of the Chesapeake Bay’s people, animals, traditions, and environment! Weekly camp offerings rotate between age groups, with sessions for children from ages 4–15. Each session is limited to a maximum of 12 children, with an emphasis on creating a fun, hands-on learning environment that includes on-the water and environmental activities, stories, games, crafts, and other creative projects.

Sea Squirts: Open to children ages 4–6. Camp operates from 9am–noon. $165 per week.
Terrapins: Open to children who are entering grades 1–3. Camp operates from 9am–4pm, Monday–Friday. $375 per week.
Summer Workshop: Camp weeks are open to either children entering grades 4-6 or children entering grades 6-9. Camp operates from 9am–4pm, Monday–Friday. $375 per week. Time will be spent in the workshop and out on the water.
Museum Masters: Alternating camp weeks are open to children entering grades 4-6. Camp operates from 9am–4pm, Monday–Friday. $375 per week.
MEMBER PRESALE & DISCOUNT: Camp sessions will be available for presale to CBMM members starting on Jan. 2, at 12AM via Campwise. Payment must then be completed via Altru (this website) to confirm your registration.. To receive your member discount, please "Sign In" to your Altru account by clicking on the top right hand side of this web page. Select the number of weeks you have registered for in Campwise to access the presale and receive your member discount. *Please note that there is a reduced rate for camp during the July 4th week.
Due to the popularity of summer camp programs and our frequency of wait lists, refunds for cancellations will be provided according to the following schedule:
Transfers between camp weeks can be made up to one week before the program start date, provided that space is available. In cases of refunds for medical exclusions, please contact registration@cbmm.org. If CBMM cancels any camp program all registration fees will be refunded.

DOGS: Please leave pets at home during Big Band Night. The only dogs permitted during CBMM Events are certified service dogs.

Join CBMM’s Vessel Conservation Manager Sam Hilgartner in the Shipyard for Coffee & Wood Chips. Sam will give an update on everything happening in the Shipyard, and answer questions along the way.
Enjoy a private river cruise to watch the log canoe races on the Miles River on board one of the vessels in CBMM’s historic floating fleet. Log canoe races are a quintessential Chesapeake pastime, and a log canoe charter provides an up close and exciting look at the action. Amateur photographers, sailing aficionados, or wooden boat enthusiasts will all find something to enjoy on a CBMM log canoe charter!
Experience the unique working traditions of the Chesapeake on a 45-minute cruise aboard a historic boat in CBMM’s floating fleet. Try your hand at different tools and harvest techniques while learning about different fisheries, including oysters and blue crabs.
Historic Workboat Experience Cruises are available on most weekends and holiday Mondays from late May through October.
